About Us

Hotel Scotland is a new publication from the publishers of on-trade magazine DRAM. Published monthly, the new magazine will focus on the people and hotels that make up Scotland’s vibrant hospitality industry. Hotel Scotland will aim to provide comprehensive, up-to-date information on trends that allow forward thinking hoteliers to take advantage of market forces to move ahead.

The publication will carry interviews with Scotland’s top hoteliers, market information and will also focus on hotels that have been re-designed or refurbished.

The first issue includes a feature on Inspirational hoteliers an in depth feature on Cyber Security and an interview with the new GM at the Hilton Glasgow, Calum Ross. 

Who will Hotel Scotland go to?

Hotel Scotland will initially be posted out to 5,000 managers and employees in Scotland’s hotels. The average readership per magazine is 3, giving Hotel Scotland a readership of just over 15,000 people in the Scottish hotel industry.

More than 53,000 people work in the hotel industry in Scotland directly with a further 150,000 people employed in tourism.

There are around approximately 2,171 hotels in Scotland.

There are more than 100 hotel brands in Scotland

Hotels in rural locations are mostly independently owned and operated. In the larger markets, hotels are commonly subject to lease, management and franchise agreements.

Affiliations

Hotel Scotland is the sister publication of DRAM. Other publications by Media World Ltd include the Wee Guide to Glasgow, the Wee Guide to Edinburgh, Scotland’s Top Bars, Scotland’s Top Whisky Bars and Critics’ Choice. The DRAM also runs The Scottish Pub and Bar Awards – an annual event.

DRAM is the home of all the publications owned by Media World Ltd, which are available to view in the magazine section. The online edition of Hotel Scotland is free to view and download and is sent by e-shot to an email database every month. Media World, based in Finnieston, Glasgow has been publishing magazines for the past 28 years and the DRAM has been published by the company for 25 years. Publisher Susan Young is a Past-President of the BEN Scotland, Scotland’s licensed trade charity, and is also a Keeper of the Quaich.
